And we recognize that, as the provider of telecommunications services, we must also ensure the privacy of each customer's telephone calling information. All Merit Telecom employees are subject to Merit Telecom's Code of Business Conduct. The Code requires all Merit Telecom employees to follow every law, rule, regulation, court and commission order that applies to our business at all times. In addition, the Code specifically requires compliance with legal requirements and company policies relating to the privacy of communications and the security and privacy of customer records. Employees who fail to meet any of the standards embodied in the Code of Business Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to dismissal. Collection of Personal Information Merit Telecom collects personal information from its users in different ways as more fully described below. To provide our customers with their own accurate, detailed billing information, we maintain detailed records. We will not sell this Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) - in any form, including billing records, calling habits or type of service - to unaffiliated third parties We will not provide customer email addresses to outside parties for the marketing of their products. We will keep customers' personal information secure and confidential through safeguards such as secure encryption technology and by requiring user names and passwords to access personal information. Registration Subscribers may be asked to provide certain personal information when they establish a residential or business account with Merit Telecom, including name, address, telephone number, credit card number or other billing information. Merit Telecom uses this information to set up your account and to personalize your service. Computer Hardware and Software Information Merit Telecom also collects automatically certain technical information about your computer hardware and software including your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring Web site addresses. This information is used by Merit Telecom to provide and maintain the quality of its service and to understand how our visitors use the Merit Telecom Web sites. Technical Support and Customer Service When you contact Merit Telecom for technical support or customer service, you may be asked to provide your name, telephone number or social security number. Merit Telecom uses such information to provide the requested service and does not share it with outside parties. Merit Telecom uses the information to personalize and deliver the services you have requested and to manage your account. Merit Telecom will disclose personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to (1) comply with the order of any court or governmental agency; or (2) protect and defend the rights or property of Merit Telecom or Merit Telecom’s users. Online Shopping Some Web sites allow users to purchase products and services or to register to receive catalogs, product or service updates, or other materials. In such cases, you may be asked to provide contact information such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and credit/debit card information if you are making a purchase. Merit Telecom has no control over third party Web sites or their use of any personal information you provide to them. If you order products or services directly from Merit Telecom, we use any personal information collected to process and fill your order. We do not share such information with outside parties except as described above. Commitment to Security Merit Telecom has instituted security measures covering the Services and Web sites we sponsor to protect against loss, misuse or alteration of information under our control. While we make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.
